Welcome spring…

This winter has had its moments when it seemed it would never end. Cold, dreary days; colder blustery nights; only the houseplants indoors showing signs of that green life we so enjoy during the warmer months. Alas, the seasons will change, and spring has arrived!

The grow lights are on and filled with baby seedlings popping up out of the soil. Dahlia tubers have green sprouts reaching upward. Young plants are filling up the greenhouse. It is such a refreshing time of year for me to wash the dregs of winter away with the promise of new life surrounding us.

This is our second year on the farm again after our return from Idaho (another post will eventually be made describing that journey!). We have so many ideas and plans, but as always, progress takes time. Each year brings improvements to the farm. This year I will have a cold room for properly storing flowers. Landscape fabric will be utilized freeing my time up for tending flowers and vegetables instead of weeds. And Buck, the farm dog, is learning his job well hunting the pesky moles and voles. We are also adding chickens to the mix! Oh, and of course expecting new litters of kittens. :) The small farm life is treating us well in life lessons, and my 3 girls are learning to balance their days as we add more chores to their daily routines.

I have high expectations for the upcoming season, but know, too, that there will be many trials awaiting to teach us something new. 💚
