Our Story
Life is a journey that is directed by different stages of growth. It begins as the tiny seed of a tree. As it grows it is shaped according to the conditions of life it experiences. There will be years where the growing conditions are just right, in which you will flourish. There will also be years of hardship: from drought, fire, storms, or flood. All of these experiences come together to create the rings of a majestic and beautiful tree. They can be seen and discerned by studying these rings. With people the experiences are harder to discern, but still affect the growth of the person.
Hedgewood Farms began as a seed in 2017. There have been many twists and turns in our journey already, and many lessons have been learned. We started out growing produce and flowers for our community during our first year. The following year we had an opportunity to experience life in southwest Idaho, and we chose to pack up and move 1600 miles across the country. There were many ups and downs, and we had to adjust our growing to the drier climate, but we also had a lot of good, healthy growth during this period of time.
In 2019 we decided it was time to move our roots back to Missouri. Hedgewood Farms experienced a few years of drought and minimal growth during the next few years, although the people behind the scenes still blossomed and grew.
Now we are back to feeding our business and hope to see it grow in the years to come. We are focusing our efforts on growing dahlias, trees, and shrubs, although we are open and ready to embrace whatever change of direction may come our way. Whether we need to prune some of our branches, or bend and shape some others, our greatest goal is to be willing to embrace the journey.
Hello, this is us! Zach and Lindsey, half
the workforce behind this venture of spreading
a little joy through the beauty of flowers.
My husband and I started this little farm in 2017. My 3 children are a huge help and bring such joy and laughter to long, hard days. In addition to growing flowers, I also enjoy the art of sewing. I love coming up with new ideas, designing and then creating them from scratch. In both areas, there will always be much to learn, but that is half the attraction!!
