Coming along…
As I sit here taking a break, listening to the birds singing out my window, the children playing with their kittens on the porch, I am reminded again how very blessed I am. We have been working at keeping everything alive in the greenhouse (which is overflowing!) until this cool snap is over. In the meantime, the lavender is getting in the field and the landscape fabric is getting laid out and pinned down so it will be ready to plant when the time is right.
Gardening is such a rewarding thing to do. We began with a field full of grass that was a pasture for cows for years. It was tilled, shaped, and planted to become a nurturing place for our flowers and vegetables. Now I watch my children run out to the garden where I’m working, barefoot, hair needing to be brushed, and sprawl out on the warm fabric between rows of plants. We bird watch, play with our dog, Buck, converse about many topics, and pass the time together enjoying the wonder of God’s natural world. It is so much hard work, with many sore muscles, but it is such a gift to watch the miracle of seeds sprouting and growing, to give back to us beauty and nourishing food in return for the care we provide as they grow. I hope as the spring and summer progress that we are able to spread some of the joy from our garden to others in the community. We are so appreciative of all the support we receive from everyone. It makes what we do even more enjoyable and worthwhile!
